Mother's Day

This year we rang in Mother's Day in the Emergency Room.

Let's back up. We'd actually had a very lovely Saturday... starting with a trip to the Beaverton Farmer's Market. That's where I picked up some beautiful flowers to celebrate Mother's Day weekend.


And earlier in the week, Cash had come home from preschool with a special gift for me.


He painted me this little pot...


Filled it with chocolate kisses...


And made me this adorable handprint card...

This is the first year Cash has been old enough to express "Happy Mother's Day" and let me just say I LOVED that card. (Thanks, Teacher Karleigh!)

So, later in the evening on Saturday we went over to a nearby park for a picnic with Paul's sister Marin and her family. That's where the evening came to a crashing end... literally... when Cash tripped and fell while running on a rocky blacktop path. He must've landed on a pretty big rock... cause it cut a big chunk out of his little knee. This photo was taken moments before the big crash:

So, to make a long story short... we ended up at the hospital... where Cash got three stitches in his left knee. We finally left around 12:30am... and as we walked out... all the doctors and nurses reminded me that it was now officially Mother's Day!

Needless to say, we spent Sunday mostly lazing around the house... though we did manage to get out of the house for an hour of church and then a trip to the park to eat dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Compton and the Mattias cousins. Due to rain, we left a bit earlier than scheduled... which was actually okay by me... since I was dead tired. So when we got home, we all snuggled in the bed. Me and my boys.

It actually turned out to be a very nice Mother's Day... despite it's beginning.
